Voters have the power to change the way elections work.
Did you know that it costs over one billion dollars to run for President? And even over one million dollars to run for Mayor of Portland? It’s no secret that elections at all political levels are flooded with money from big donors, which drowns out the voices of ordinary citizens. Big Money in politics limits who can run for office, how they run for office, and what they think about when they’re in office.
The good news is that we can change this system. In this TEDx talk, Sightline senior researcher, Kristin Eberhard, examines America’s current political system and shows how the Northwest can become a leader of democracy by creating a better voting system that brings back power to everyday people. Excellent!
FUJI FOR CONGRESS
The establishment of both parties, Democrat and Republican, have benefited immensely from allowing too much money in politics.
Honest election reform starts with the candidates like myself, one who will not accept campaign contributions. Contact your candidates to lead by example like myself to tell them to return their campaign donations to the hard-working, tax paying Americans. I am running for the United States Congress with my own money, so why can’t they? Washington DC, our democracy and the election process are no longer for sale!
