A new report (pdf) from researchers in Olympia shows that one in every nine non-elderly Washington residents was without health insurance in 2004. Here’s a look at the uninsured below age 65, by the numbers:
- 24 percent of those below the federal poverty line; and 19 percent of those below twice the poverty line
- 14 percent of residents in rural areas, compared with 10 percent in cities
- 22 percent of non-US citizens
- 14 percent of those who report being disabled
- 22 percent of 19- to 30-year-olds
