Finally. Proof.
A study by Progressive Insurance finds that Portland drivers are 13 percent more likely to crash than Seattle drivers. Plus another study by AutoVantage puts Seattle—but not Portland—in the five cities least likely to have road rage.
I relish the comparison between my hometown and that lovely city to the south that always seems chock full of clueless drivers. But it’s really no laughing matter: car crashes are the leading cause of death for Americans 45 and younger. And, on average, car crashes kill roughly 1 person every day in Oregon. (They kill roughly 2 a day in Washington.)

13% – statistically irrelevant and without the context of the study, doesn’t provide much if any information worth talking about unless comments like “clueless drivers to the south” is meant to provoke a thoughtful conversation about traffic accidents. Come on; think a little harder before hitting the send button.
