Schmudget. It’s a blog. And it’s where you should turn for good analysis of Washington’s state budget issues. Given the state’s upcoming challenges, it should be a lively source of progressive thinking and solutions over the next few months.
Schmudget is brought to you by our friends at the Washington State Budget and Policy Center. Go check it out.
(And now for some slightly-related self promotion. I just wrote a post on Washington’s budget. It was, in all sincerity, the most enjoyable-to-write post I’ve done in ages. And it has zero comments so far. Zero. I don’t get it. It has “laser interferometer gravitational wave observatories” in the title. Where’s the love, people?)

Don’t take it too hard. Want comments? Write something controversial and irrational like how the future of transit is diesel buses (it’s Crosscut’s entire business model). Writing blog entries (even ones with clever titles) about the ridiculous nature of our tax code leaves us commenters with little to say except “yeah. what he said.”

Hey, I just remembered that I did better than comment. I submitted it to my state representative. How’s that for action? (see comment #3 here)
