Here’s an interesting project. Washington State University is developing a “Climate Friendly Farming” program, to try to reduce CO2 and other global warming emissions from the agriculture sector, and increase carbon storage in agricultural soils.
Agriculture isn’t responsible for nearly as large a share of climate-warming emissions as, say, the transportation sector. But slight managment changes, if applied across millions of acres of farmland across the country, could make for a significant offset for ongoing emissions from other sources. This isn’t the whole solution, obviously, but it might be part of it.
